The FTN was started by a couple of friends in a basement 3 years ago. The idea was to get high speed internet to all of them out in the country, dsl and cable were not available. The only option was satellite but the cost of satellite internet was to expensive and the service and speed were not acceptable. A wireless network was setup to accomplish this goal. The idea to invite friends to join the network was made to help offset the high cost of maintaining the network. The goal of the network is to provide high speed internet to it's members for less than dsl or cable currently we are about the same price but significantly less than satellite.
